In many instances, it does - maybe even a boot jack...

Love the insight here. Yes, the FOMOs are at work. Being a non alcoholic, vegetarian 🥑 Egg Nog sounds horrible. The fruit cake hmmmm? Those Romans (my ancestors) had odd tastes. Thanks to you for a well researched series. 👏😇

Another piece to your Christmas puzzle.

Fortunately I haven’t had to deal with a lot of the negativity you rightly present in your opening. I do have some childhood memories of my Aunt Bea crying at the family holiday dinner because one of the four different kinds of something she made didn’t turn out to her liking. Never mind the rest of the feast which could have easily fed three times the number of guests present, turned out fine.

Eggnog is interesting. It’s been around in some form all my life. I remember liking it much more when I was younger than I do now. My wife and daughter consume it now although not in copious quantities.

Fruit cake though is a food group for me. I don’t eat the heavily glazed stuff that has huge glazed fruit pieces all over. My younger daughter developed a recipe that I really like and will consume it year round. She makes it in small loaves though that can be wrapped to be consumed in a single sitting.

I haven’t really watched many Christmas movies this year. I’m currently watching The Godfather series but that doesn’t count.

I’m looking forward to your final installment. This has been a series worth keeping. Thank you.

Oh, yes it does!! The first one, anyway – since a major plot point takes place just before Christmas, it's a Christmas movie, all right!

I'm glad you've enjoyed it.

Not sure how much I'll be writing after the first of the year – your comments are a high point for me, and that may be enough for me to keep at this.

I hope you stay with it at least on a limited basis. I understand how time consuming it is to put these pieces together.

I'm starting to think I was lucky growing up in a family that is really low-key about holidays.

I'm not an overly big fan of eggnog. I hadn't noticed it's growing popularity, but they have to have something to market, don't they? The only person in our family who likes fruitcake is my mother. If figure if I ever want to commit suicide, I'll fill my pockets with it and walk into the Yellowstone. My body will never float to the surface.

I love the compendiums. Keep it up!

I feel similarly toward mine, and our observation of Christmas, and I concur.

Thank you, for the encouragement – my professional time-management skills are going to be put to serious testing in the first quarter of 2024. Hopefully, this won't take such a hard hit.

I enjoy your writing so much, NFT. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and a small part of your life with us.

Not having had any children, my Christmas holiday hasn't been as stressed as most. The estended family went to drawing names, then to a secret Santa, so it was one gift from each of us to buy for the exchange. But alas, in my older years, I'm missing having had those kids, and the grand kids that come with them.

I agree with Joey Cantaloupe, Home Alone is a great Christmas movie. Home Alone 2 is nearly as good.

I attribute this to Hallmark movies, but for some reason this year, my husband has been drinking a LOT of eggnog. And not only is it big on calories, it's not cheap either. Good for me that it's just too filling to drink much of. I don't need the calories at all.

Merry Christmas to you and yours! Looking forward to your last Christmas installment, but I probably won't be online much by the time it drops, so I will pick it up after Christmas.
