Yes, there are reasons to hope that the pendulum will swing back to the middle. It's just a race between the masses waking up and the totalitarians putting up the guardrails and cement barriers against "unapproved" thought. And thank you for the list of studios and outlets that aren't afraid of producing something outside the propaganda most of Hollywood pushes.
That was a homily. It should be required reading for at least voters approaching this from the right.
You understood what I was saying. I did not mean it necessarily as a reproach towards the author who I directed the comment towards. It came after going through several posts and blocking several decent writers because they kept showing up in my feed and I was exhausted by the message. I finally determined that in lieu of doing that I would take a hiatus.
Politics is indeed fashioned by one’s exposure to culture. I always thought what made my particular situation unique was my politics being directly antithetical to the culture I was working in. The humor in my life is that the success I’ve been able to attain in my later years is being funded by people who didn’t believe anything close to what I did, but paid me well because of that fact. I used to tell people who were interested in doing what I did that “you can’t have the same habits and lifestyle as the people who you are commissioned to look out for”. But I do understand that side very well. Your points about their commitment to winning and the lack of concern about the ethics of doing it are points I’ve made myself. The right doesn’t really understand what they’re dealing with. I think the lights are starting to come on though. There are no deals to be made. Defeat is the only option. Wanting to just be “left alone” won no battle ever.
I differ with you on Trump. I thought at first that the left was afraid of him but have come to believe that’s a front the “true believers” throw that out for their bed wetting minions. He didn’t really threaten anything important and they played him fairly easily, and led him down the covid primrose path. I believe they just genuinely hate him. That’s a conclusion I came to after having conversations with former Trump voters and moderates on the other side. They would decry the state of things now, prices, etc but end with “I can’t vote for that mfer”. They hate him so much they’ll go against their own self interests. That contrasts with the sizeable MAGA contingent who believes voting for Trump will lead to things being better. They don’t understand they need to participate if there ever is going to be a renaissance of any sort. From my own perspective what he did with covid was disqualifying. When the country needed a badass CEO to say “you’re fired”, he couldn’t do it. I might feel differently if I felt there was any chance he would act differently now. If he wins he’ll be overwhelmed by economic issues that have being held together with bandaids, foreign policy issues that can’t be fixed by his preferred method of bullying, and a large part of the country who will dedicate themselves to making his every waking moment miserable. If he can navigate all that I’ll be more than happy to be wrong. It’s hard to operate above your own worldview and I don’t think he has strong beliefs in anything but himself.
Your optimism on parents seeing the light is a bit optimistic I think. I think it’s starting to happen but the pushback needs to be stronger. Parents need to realize that teachers for the most part are Satan’s Youth Ministry and start acting accordingly.
Anyway I’ve turned this into more than I intended. I’m going to make an addition to your list of movies. Nefarious is a movie that you should watch if you haven’t already.
Well done and well sourced ; perhaps the glass will be less empty if Johnson shuts her down with the Save Act- requires voters to provide documentary proof of citizenship at the time of registration. Only a lunatic would go on record voting against it.
I'm glad you're back to writing.

I'm reading this, but because I forget, based on your beginning, you will love this video from Thomas Massie (https://x.com/RepThomasMassie/status/1833289345190568281).
You were right!!
I wonder if his remarks will make it into the congressional record...

Thanks for this and thanks for the shoutout.
Nefarious scared the hell out of me...
Exactly

Be sure to make woke jokes. Make it uncool to espouse leftist ideas.
